The 3fivetwo Group are currently seeking to recruit a Nurse Clinical Lead (Quality & Education). The successful candidate will join an already established team within a state of the art hospital in the independent healthcare sector. The role will primarily be based on the Lisburn Road, Belfast, but will involve travel to other Company locations as required.

External: 352 Board of Directors, Governance Manager, Compliance Manager, NiPEC, QUB and UUJ (Student nursing program)

 

Job Summary:

Implement education, training and practice development strategies within Kingsbridge Private Hospital for all staff groups. Provide professional leadership, acting as a role model and champion for change and quality improvement. Contribute to the improvement of standards of care by developing education, training and learning by providing assistance, advice and support to teams and individuals.

 

Ensure that the workforce is fit for purpose by developing role specific competencies to provide safe, high quality and efficient services. Support the recruitment, induction and mandatory training within the Hospital. Lead on professional development and change. Devise professional learning and development plans in conjunction with the CPD funding stream.

 

Managerially & Professionally Accountable to: General Manager of Kingsbridge Private Hospital.

 

Education and Development

  1. Develop and expand the current CPD framework in line with funding streams to reflect the higher-level training requirements of the organisation. Implement across all teams.
  2. Act as a mentor/clinical supervisor and resource person for all nursing and support staff.
  3. Introduce where practicable the PACE project to Kingsbridge Private Hospital.  Undertake the role of PACE facilitator in collaboration with NiPEC.
  4. Ensure newly appointed staff complete induction and mandatory training.
  5. Review the annual appraisal process and develop in line with best practice.
  6. Review Induction and Competency assessments and develop in line with best practice.
  7. Lead on student nurse placements ensuring that mentors are competent within these roles. Foster good working relations with the universities providing students for placement. Ensure educational opportunities support the learning outcomes identified within learning agreements for students. Undertake any University required audits.
  8. Be an active member of NiPEC forums (PACE) and chair relevant Hospital meetings relating to CPD.
  9. Lead on the implementation of new medical devices, ensuring staff have access to relevant training and complete competency assessments applicable to their role.
  10. Produce a Hospital annual learning and development plan in response to training needs analysis reflected in the annual appraisal process and new regional initiatives.
  11. In conjunction with General Manager assess candidates and allocate CPD funding, ensuring funding is allocated to individuals in accordance with clinical needs / service priorities and gap analysis.

 

Clinical Practice

  1. Participate in the development of clinical protocols and policies and support implementation of new protocols and policies within the Hospital. Work towards this in conjunction with Patient Safety Nurse who leads on policy/ protocols development.
  2. Gather, analyse, and report a range of audit data and information. Submit reports in an acceptable and professional manner. Provide quality reports as required.
  3. Facilitate nursing, clinical skills and practice in line with national and local policy.
  4. Provide support and guidance to all teams. Escalate areas that are underperforming and support Managers to address these areas.
  5. Lead and implement action plans to address areas for development.

 

Responsibility for Patient Care

  1. Produce and review documentation (PACE) in use in Kingsbridge Private Hospital. Liaise and consult with relevant staff groups in designing and implementing nursing documentation.
  2. Undertake quality monitoring audits ensuring timely reporting and feedback to the General Manager. Identify other review processes for monitoring and improving the standards of care at ward / department level.
  3. Support clinical teams to deliver and monitor high quality care in line with nursing metrics. Ensuring that action plans are in place and staff is supported with any areas of development.
  4. Support the Department Managers and Senior Nurses to deliver the PACE project.
  5. Support the undertaking of local inspections and respond to actions required to improve the patient pathway.
  6. Support ward teams in reviewing how they organise patient care and provide advice and leadership in introducing new ways of working.
  7. Assist the Senior Nursing team in supporting work to meet inspection standards such as RQIA standards.

 

Management of People

  1. Support the Ward Managers and Administration Managers with the management and professional updating/clinical supervision to all staff and students.
  2. Attend Departmental Meetings.
  3. Identify key objectives for different groups/ bands of staff linked to appraisal reviews.
  4. Support appraisal process by advising and supporting ward managers and other staff undertaking appraisal. Work with clinical managers, where required, to give advice and support for the further development of staff, in line with personal development plans.  Identify areas of training requirements as highlighted by the appraisal process.
  5. Support the Department Managers with the recruitment and selection process.

 

Leadership and Management.

  1. Ensure visibility within clinical areas. Role model in terms of standards of care and behaviour.
  2. In conjunction with the Patient Safety Nurse bring relevant national information, policies, guidelines and procedures that may impact on service to the attention of the General Manager. In conjunction with Senior Nursing Team set and monitor standards, promoting best practice.
  3. Communicate effectively with a wide range of people including patients, relatives and carers, nursing colleagues, allied health profession colleagues, medical colleagues, managers and academic colleagues.
  4. Work the Department Managers to motivate and empower staff through effective communication and clear direction to ensure they are fit for practice and perform to their potential through training and practice development initiative.
  5. Manage the incidents and complaints process for Kingsbridge Private Hospital in conjunction with the Patient Safety Nurse within the policy framework to ensure adherence with RQIA standards and to ensure learning is disseminated throughout the organisation.  Provide regular quality updates for the Local and Group Quality Team.
  6. To support the development and implementation of an effective quality improvement framework across the whole organisation within which the Hospital can improve its current performance. Ensure systems are in place to enable quality improvement information to be accessible at all levels to embed a culture quality, transparency and continuous improvement.
  7. Provide monthly reports for the General Manager.
  8. Maintain own professional registration and practice through CPD. Maintain a professional portfolio.
  9. Work autonomously and prioritise own workload.

Qualified RGN with active NMC Registration.

Experience to include 10 years’ post registration.

Relevant Senior Manager level experience.

Demonstrable track record of input improving quality and driving output.

Previous experience within the independent healthcare sector.
