Theatre Health Care Assistant

Kingsbridge Healthcare Group are currently seeking to fill the role of a Healthcare Assistant within the Theatre Department. The successful candidate will be based at Kingsbridge Private Hospital North West (Ballykelly)

As a Theatre Healthcare Assistant, you will be required to work in support of Registered staff, delivering a high standard of care within the Operating Theatre environment that meets the needs of patients whilst maintaining privacy and dignity.

Job Summary

Main Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of the Registered Practitioner and assist in the implementation of care according to the patient’s individual care plan.
  • Work in an effective and efficient way, utilising appropriate Hospital policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Continuously observe and accurately report on the patient’s condition and outcomes of care.
  • To assist with the transfer of patients from ward, reception, anaesthetic room, operating theatre and post-op recovery room.
  • To assist with the moving and positioning of patients in preparation for surgery and/or treatment.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of the care environment to comply with standards necessary to provide an effective service.
  • Communicate effectively by giving, receiving and interpreting information so that appropriate action can be taken.
  • Continuously develop own skills and knowledge and where appropriate provide information for others to help their development.
  • Contribute effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, building appropriate relationships.
  • Work on own initiative and within the limitations of the role always promote high quality care.
  • At all times ensure that own actions support and promote equality, diversity and the rights of patients, the public and colleagues within the health care environment.
  • Maintain and support the effective use of available resources (equipment, people and stock) in an efficient way.
  • Identify hazards and act accordingly to promote the health and safety of patients, the public and staff in the health care environment.
  • Complete all appropriate documents in a clear, accurate and timely way, participating in reporting processes as necessary.
  • Participate in annual performance reviews and development planning.
  • Participate in mandatory training as required.
  • Contribute to effective working in a changing environment as services develop.
