What You Can Expect From The New GP Service At Kingsbridge Private Hospital Northwest?

The basic premise of this service is that we will deliver a 5 star, promptly available service to people 5 days per week. The model being used has been tried and tested in Kingsbridge Hospital in Belfast since 2009, and has been refined and developed by those working in the service as a result of feedback from patients, colleagues and management.

A New & Exciting Service

In Ballykelly there initially will be one General practitioner available from 9 until 5 every working day. This service may be grown and developed further, depending on demand to a 6 day service which eventually may run later into the evenings, and ultimately there may be more GP’s if demand requires it. Essentially people will be able to get everything that they presently would expect from their own GP, but hopefully more quickly and efficiently due to the streamlined and well planned format of this service.

People will be able to have Telephone, Video and Face to Face consultations for acute medical problems - the kind of things that they might present to their NHS GP with. They will be able to have medications prescribed, medical certificates issued and receive guidance and advice about the medical condition in question, after the history of the condition has been established  and the patient seen if appropriate and required. Referral onward is also possible.

This is the core service and our GP is experienced in NHS practice and is aware of all of the services available for patients both in the private sector and the NHS.

There will be additional services available:

• Provision of referrals to have investigations carried out eg: Ultrasound, X-Ray or MRI scanning in Ballykelly and if CT is required, at our Belfast site in Kingsbridge private Hospital
• To provide a referral to see a Consultant for a specific need, although this may not be strictly necessary in most cases
• Provision of services like Medical Examinations for DVLA/DVA, Health or Life Insurance and some specialised medicals etc
• Women’s and Men’s Health Screening and advisory services
• Minor Surgical Procedures
• Joint Injections
• Contraceptive Services
• Sexual Health Screening

There is a desire to provide an excellent responsive service, delivering good patient care in an excellent clinical environment with all of the facilities and services required to do so. The Doctors, Nurses, Receptionists and Management are all committed to this new service.

Our resident Doctor, Dr Roger Brown, has said that he feels that this is how General practice should be done…..
