Martin McAshea is a highly experienced physiotherapist have been a practicing for 14 years. Having worked with the NHS specialising predominantly in Musculoskeletal Outpatients from 2007 to 2017.
From 2017 he started work in a private practice full time and has now worked in his current position since April 2021. Martin has worked extensively within the diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries, orthopaedic and MSK conditions. This experience had enabled him to work with overuse injury, trauma and chronic MSK conditions. Martin recently completed a course on Vestibular rehabilitation allowing him to assess and treat patients suffering from dizziness and balance problems.
He has also worked with various local GAA clubs and was lead physiotherapist with the Tyrone U21 GAA football team from 2011 until 2015 when they won the All-Ireland U21 championship. He has also worked for 8 years as Team physiotherapist for the Tyrone GAA senior football team as was part of the medical team for the All-Ireland Senior Final in 2018.
He completed a PGC in Professional Software Development and uses this to complete mini machine learning projects. The most recent project involved analysis of measurement data from GAA hurlers to make clinical predictions and decisions on athletic conditioning and injury prevention using GPS metrics.
When not working he likes to keep up to date with reading any recent research in the Orthopaedic and sports medicine fields. He also enjoys spending time with his family for regular visits to Donegal to relax and for some open water swimming.
