Consultants
Mr McGonigle completed his training in Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2011 in Belfast. Following completion, he was appointed as a consultant to the world famous Harefield Hospital, London as a consultant Thoracic Surgeon.
Within 2 years, he was the Lead Thoracic Surgeon and Chair for Cancer Services until re returning to Belfast in 2017. He has a special interest in minimally invasive thoracic surgery and performs the majority of surgeries via ‘keyhole’. He has a special interest in lung cancer, mediastinal tumours, pectus deformity and hyperhidrosis.
He is currently the Chair of the Lung Cancer Clinical reference Group for Northern Ireland (NiCAN).
He is also a keen educator in surgery having formerly been the Training Programme Director (TPD) for Core Surgery in North-West London and currently TPD for Core Surgery in Northern Ireland & Deputy Head of School of Surgery (NIMTDA)
