Specialising in all aspects of dermatology with special interest and extensive training throughout the UK in diagnosis and management of skin cancers. She is one of only two Mohs trained surgeons in Northern Ireland.

She is also trained in all aspects of cosmetic dermatology (Botox and fillers) (Cosmetic Courses Dec 2006) and also holds a BTEC national qualification in lasers (Loughborough College Sept 2006). Her passion for training and education is reflected in her appointment as Training Programme Director for Dermatology in Northern Ireland.

Dr Kerr is probably one of the few consultants in any speciality in Northern Ireland to hold four separate degrees Three with Queens University Belfast and one with the University of Edinburgh.

She has also had additional training in surgical management of skin cancer having been awarded a prestigious and competitive Post CCT Fellowship in Cutaneous Surgery in Cardiff (2006-2007) at the University Hospital of Wales specialising in the technique of Mohs surgery.

She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Glasgow July 2008 She has worked as an NHS Dermatology Consultant for 12 years and ran a very successful private practice during this period. She has over 20 years’ exclusive experience in dermatology. 

Dr Kerr is a very experienced general dermatologist with over 20 years’ experience in dermatology with special expertise and experience in the diagnosis and management of skin cancers. She has had experience of working throughout the UK and her extensive training ensures that patients can expect the highest quality of care. She overseas one of the only private mole scanning services in the UK where the patients moles are analysed by a trained professional and the patient is given an immediate diagnosis rather than other business models who use internet or remote access to analyse the moles.

Her business approach is unique and she is passionate that her team members share her vision for quality and excellence in skin cancer diagnosis and management. She attempts wherever possible to “see and treat” so that if you have a worrisome lesion it is often able to be removed on the day of the consultation.

As she is also a fully trained general dermatologist she is keen to offer advice and treatment for those with all types of general dermatological problems. With the current NHS waiting lists often patients with general dermatological conditions can have longer waits due to the increase in referrals for suspect skin cancer. She prides herself in being able to offer a comprehensive service for any patients with a skin problem.

She is originally from Northern Ireland and having worked throughout the UK is passionate that patients in Northern Ireland should have the best quality of dermatological care comparable with any region in the UK.

Dr Kerr studied medicine at Queens where she was awarded her degree with distinction in microbiology in 1996. She then pursued her general dermatology training in Edinburgh. During her time there she was awarded two postgraduate degrees a Masters in Medical Education (Queens University Belfast 2004) and an MD (Edinburgh University 2013) and is author of a number of peer reviewed articles.

She then pursued a Post CCT Surgical & Mohs fellowship in Cardiff (2006).
She is one of only a few dermatologist trained in the technique of Mohs surgery. As a result of her surgical fellowship she is proficient at dealing with most skin cancers and at reconstructing defects with skin flaps and grafts.

She has worked as a Consultant Dermatologist since 2006 and ran a very successful private practice during this time. She is also fully trained as a general dermatologist so is proficient at dealing with all general dermatological conditions. Her passion for training and education is reflected in her role as Training Programme Director for Dermatology in Northern Ireland.

She was awarded a Masters of Business administration (Executive MBA) Queens with Commendation Dec 2014. She won the prize for the best student in the leadership module Excelus LTD.

Dr Kerr enjoys running and photography especially black and white. She has an advanced Photography qualification from Stevenson College Edinburgh June 2005 and a Portrait module at Glasgow Art College June 2004. She is currently studying for a Diploma in interior design. She is listed in the 2008 Marquis Who’s Who.
