Job Summary

The post-holders will be responsible for maintaining the ongoing high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout all catering areas including the kitchen. They will work alongside the Chefs and Waiters to ensure that the kitchen area is clean and tidy and that an efficient catering service is maintained at all times.
 
Kitchen Porters will join a roster to work allocated shifts throughout the week, including evenings, and will receive hourly pay enhancements for weekend work. The ideal candidates should have one years’ experience working within a kitchen as a Porter, however, applicants without this experience will also be considered. Candidates must possess excellent people skills to communicate politely and professionally with patients and staff. 
 
The successful candidates will assist with cleaning all areas of kitchen and canteen in accordance with the hospitals catering hygiene and food handling policy. This involves cleaning all crockery, cutlery and equipment to ensure a clean and professional working environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Wash dishes and cooking utensils quickly and efficiently.
  2. Assist in the preparation of food.
  3. Maintain kitchen cleanliness to a high standard.
  4. Work alongside other catering team members to ensure food is prepared for necessary times.
  5. Assist the chefs when directed.
 
The above list is not exhaustive and additional / alternative tasks may be required from time to time as directed.

Qualifications  
  • Food Hygiene Certificate.
Experience
  • 1 years’ experience within a busy catering or other customer service environment.
  • Experience in a high end or fine dining restaurant.
